Stop using Talc

Filed under: Melaleuca, Products/Services, Son Daniel, Son Samuel, son Ezekiel — swling @ 4:59 am

During my eldest son’s confinement, my mother refused to use talcum on him. I asked her and she explained because of the particle’s that he will inhale. She used tapioca instead. stating that even if inhaled, is not poison. Since then, I have been using tapioca as talcum for my three sons. I also suggested this to my friend’s newborn. You must make sure you get the clean tapioca. Don’t just take a spoonful from your cooking item-dirty-lah.
Today, it is the 3rd month I joined Melaleuca and I researched into this issue. here is what I found from CAP.

An atricle “Cancer warning needed for talcum powder” the imgredient “magnesium silicate hydroxide (commonly known as talc)” can “can cause tumours in human ovaries and lungs.” read more at http://www.consumer.org.my/products/children/65-cancer-warning-needed-for-talcum-powder

Why Malaysian women are having ovary cancern? “Latest findings from the United States suggest that women who use talcum powder are 40% more likely to get ovarian cancer. Experts from Harvard Medical School in Boston studied more than 3,000 women and found using talc merely once a week raised the risk of ovarian cancer by 36%, rising to 41% for those applying powder daily.”

Convert yourself. Try to use tapioca. If you feel disgusting, then use proper product. Read the ingredient before you buy (like my husband always do)

Ah yes, the article also suggeted this “consumers are advised to use powder which is made from corn or rice flour. Mothers are advised to use ointments instead of medicated powders for rashes in babies.”

Interactive Museum

Filed under: Idea & Innovation, Son Daniel, Son Samuel — swling @ 2:21 pm

Just at my children. If only the virtual museum could allow them to simulate themselves as how the animal is.
Actually this is possible with the Virtual Reality technology and also the sensory-what they called it already?

The Lord’s Garden

Filed under: Son Daniel, Son Samuel, Sunday School — swling @ 5:35 pm

22 November 2009 was Ezekiel’s 5 months. It was also my church’s first step to the new sanctuary. We named it The Lord’s Garden. It depicts a safe and comfortable place for the children to learn about the word of God. In His garden is where they will grow and learn to receive blessings of all kinds.

I see my children grow up in the church. They may not be acting obediently but I know this is a process of growing up. I always reminded myself of that song “he is still working on me.” As much as I want my children to be mature and understand my situation, they are still my little children who wants their mother’s attention. I am glad because most of the time, Samuel has been very understanding. Little Daniel is asking for demand but he will be alright. All I need to do is to pray more for him.

Cesarean/C-sect

Filed under: Son Daniel, Son Samuel, experience, son Ezekiel — swling @ 1:15 pm

My three sons were delivered via a cesarean (c-sect). All of them were done horizontally, or bikini cut. How I ended up with c-sect? It all happened seven years ago with my eldest son at SJMC. I was fully dilated (yup, 10 cm) but the baby’s head was stuck in the canal because his head is too big for pelvic bone. Something like this, I could not get the clear picture myself too but something to do with big head(36 cm).

The second baby I wanted to try VBAC but Dr. Tan, Britannia Hospital advised not to take risk. Further, if I failed VBAC and switch to c-sect, there will be two cost incurred. Heh, just like SJMC. It cost us around RM7500 for three days stay. The second baby only cost us RM4100.

Now for the youngest baby, I have no doubts of going for another c-sect. I was also prepared for the pains, after surgery. This time, I went back to Dr. Tan and choose my date. Baby came out 7 hours ealier as compared to 2nd baby, 2 days earlier. This baby cost me extra, around RM4400 due to extra medication. As for the final c-sect, I also performed Tubal Bilateral Ligation, which cost another RM300.  The thoughts of getting pregnant again frigthens me, besides Dr. Tan mentioned that my uterus was thin too. Doctors are concerned about uterus rupture for the subsequent delivery.

C-sect? People has the perception that is was painless. They are right, it was totally not pain during surgery. Unfortunately, after the pain killer subsides, you will feel lots of pain and uncomfortable feeling around the stomach.

According to Dr. Tan, I was given injection to shrink the uterus. Pain is good, ya know. At least your uterus is shrinking allowing you to recover faster and getting slimmer too. In comparing three delivery, my stomach is biggest after during the 3rd baby. Daniel has mistaken me as having 2nd baby when h looked at my big stomach. However, it is already 2 weeks now and it has shrinked into half. Not bad eh? Thanks all to the wonder of breastfeeding.

Also, lochia was cleaned thoroughly during surgery, so there will be less of it as compared to vaginal delivery.

OK, got to feed baby now…continue later.

Always my helper

Filed under: Son Daniel, Son Samuel — swling @ 4:32 am

This is a recent picture of Samuel, helping the maid to carry a color box from our apartment into our car. Of course, little Daniel wants to help too.

During the school holiday, We actually sent him to join “I’m possible” camp organized by Harvest church. He has really enjoyed himself. In fact, he was the leading actor in the performance and in fact, won the award of best Leadership. At home, he would not stop helping themaid, cleaning plates, car, wipe furnitures and etc while Daniel and I were soundly sleeping.

He loves songs

Filed under: Son Daniel — swling @ 3:43 am

Daniel has been seen sing various songs that I sung, including songs that his teacher taught him at school. Yesterday night, as we are sleeping together, he sung Heavenly Father, are you really there…

It was a pity that he is always not clear in his pronouciation. Else, I will definetely encourage him to go on stage.

Daniel with broken skull

Filed under: Son Daniel — swling @ 2:56 pm

Last Sunday, Daniel fell down from the stair case. We were entertaining the electrical guy who came over to install broken lights. Daniel was excited over playing PSP and came over to show us his game. Told me he will go down and play, I heard a loud bump along with his crying.

We ran down and saw him on the stairway, facing down. We knew what happened because we saw his hand holding firm on the PSP. Well, rather than comforting him, we scolded him. He knew we were angry with him. So when we asked how it actually happened. He didn’t tell the story.

After I put medication on him, he went to his brother and I overhead him telling him the story.

We observed him and he did not have any problem. However, on the second day we felt a hole on his front skull. Being worried mum, I insisted my husband to bring him for a check. According to Doctor Chuah, he is alright. The ‘hole’ that we felt is actually the connection of the skulls. He added that even if the skull really breaks, it will heal on it’s own.So parents out there, when your child falls down, observe.

God bless Daniel.

Daniel first day in Kindergarten

Filed under: Son Daniel — swling @ 8:14 am

Well, actually I do not know how well is Daniel behaving in the kindergarten. However, both my husband and I were very careful with him at home. He would take Samuel’s book, bag and everything and claim that it is his’s. He would even ask where is his homework and etc. Yesterday as we packed Samuel’s bag, he saw many books in it. However, his bag is empty. So he took Samuel’s book and put into his bag. Luckly I saw it and told him to put back. He reminded us that we need to share the book. When I told him that books are not sharable, he was so upset.

I guess that is how younger sibling acts when the eldest goes to school. I am glad Daniel finally got to go to kindergarten because he has been looking forward since last year. In fact, he enjoyed it!

Daniel – (SHIT) the future scientist

Filed under: Son Daniel — swling @ 5:55 am

Daniel had a chicken pox attack yesterday. I brought him out with me to a copier shop to laminate my certificate of attendance. (Yeah, it is silly. My husband said I should blow it up instead. Not sure why but suddenly, I do appreciates my certificate. I want to keep it and hang it on my walls in the office.)

Anyway, this writing is about Daniel. He was looking at something on the floor. Very amuse with it. I was concerned and went to him. He noticed me there and pointed it. I yelled, “don’t touch!” Of course, any mother of a Danie-like son would do that. Spontaneously, out of curiosity, he poked at that thing. I nearly fainted!

I said “it is SHIT, Daniel” Don’t!” Well, you cannot imagine it but he stepped on it. Yucks! You could imagine my reaction after that.

Stepped on shit

Daniel has all this kind of curiosity. My husband said “well, he is our next scientist”

Look at our little scientist with his hiding place in our newly made cupboard.
